Hi, I'm still discovering the features of my new Oly C750. When shooting in movie mode I found I can't zoom in or out, and the whole movie is shot at whatever setting i had the zoom at the beginning. Is this a fault of my camera or is this facility supposed to be disabled during movie mode?

Most cameras disable the zoom because the microphone would pick up the noise of the focus mechanism. I have the C-720 and zoom is disabled in movie mode. It's not just your camera, it is designed that way.

My old Olympus allowed zoom in movie mode, but it didn't record sound.

I've a C-770UZ and have the same no-zoom in movie mode. The only way around this would be to get an external mic for the sound. The zoom will be enabled this way.

I'm wondering if the C-750UZ can use sound in movie mode?

A quick summary of the available movie modes on my C770, I hope it's the same across the C7xxUZ series:

a) Movie without Sound :
Optical Zoom available.

b) Movie with Sound without external mic:
Optical Zoom disabled but Digital Zoom available (pls check menu settings)
(Optical Zoom fixed at zoom setting in the beginning of record.)

c) Movie with Sound with external mic:
Optical Zoom available

Hope that helps.

Reviving a 2 year old thread is probably not the best way to ask this question, especially one in the Olympus forum.

Try starting a new question in the "What Camera" forum.
