Have a problem with my HP 850 that maybe somebody can help me with. When I turn the camera on, I hear a "whirring" sound in the lens area and then the view turns pink. The view is pink, the images are pink - everything is pink. If I pan the area that I am shooting, sometimes colors like in a rainbow will enter the view, but then it will all reverts to pink.

I think something small inside the lens is loose, and an adjustment should correct it. HP wants $250 just to look at the camera (out of warranty), which is a lot if it can't be fixed. It's a lot even if it can be fixed.

Anybody have any ideas or suggestions?

$250 is as lot just to open it up and to have a look inside but you always pay a premium by going directly to the manufacturer, especially the likes of Canon and Nikon.

If it's out of warranty I'm sure a local camera shop will have their own repair service which will be much cheaper. Mine quoted £30 for my Canon T90 whereas Canon quoted me £140.

Otherwise I guess you'll have to bite the bullet!
