Hello! I am in need of a small bag to carry around my new 5d + lens kit that came with it. I have no other lenses to carry. I have seen the CS-5D case but for some reason it seems it is not available inside the US? Any suggestions? Please :P
Also, is it a good idea to buy a protective filter? I am going on a trip to Japan next week for 2 weeks with my new camera.

Camera Case - Take your camera to the shops where they sell them and think about it, what you want to put in the case? ie. camera, battery, lens & cables.
Protective Filter - its must have!! I have Hoya UV 55mm filter on mine, all lenses I have here has UV filters on them, why? 3 reasons - Preventing scratching camera lens (if you scratch or damage the filter, you can replace it! but lens is an expensive replacement!) and keep dust out, lastly to stop the UV rays getting in the camera & burn the sensor.
Cheers

I also have the 5D with kit lens. I bought a Lowepro TLZ 1 earlier this week as a small "walk around" bag. It provides nice support for the camera, since there are adjustable velcro straps inside the case which support the camera so that it does not rest on the lens. It can be worn either around the waist or with a shoulder strap. There is a front pocket for cards, an extra battery, or other equipment. It is also relatively cheap compared to comparably sized Tamrac bags, which have more padding but not the internal support straps.
I also tried and rejected the Lowepro Toploader, which is smaller. It provided a relatively tight fit, did not have the internal support straps, and was not very well padded.
After a couple of days carrying around the TLZ 1, I am quite happy with it and recommend that you give it a try.

I use the one at the link below. My 5D just fits with the KM 18-200mm. It also has room for an extra battery, a couple of cards, a filter or two, has a rain jacket, and can be worn over the shoulder or as a waist pack. I think it's the perfect bag for traveling light.
