Kodak V570 vs Sony T9

Hi,

I have narrowed my search down to just 2 Cameras, the Kodak Easyshare V570 & the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T9.

I have played around with these in a limited capacity in the shop and liked them both.

I have often been frustrated in the past that I cant get all the scenery in the shot or have to back right up to take the photo, so the wide angle lense in the V570 is very tempting. However after reading the reviews of both cameras I have one simple question.

Is the difference in image quality between the 2 worth sacrifising the wide angle lense for?



Budget -

around £300 including memory (I already have Sony memory sticks) not too fussed about the money, I just want the right camera.

Size -

Ultra compact (I like the size of both these cameras)

Features -

Min 3x optical zoom

Image quality - 8/10 would like to display pictures on the web and print upto A4 size pictures.

I'm a point & clicker, no need for manual controls.

Usage -

I only need the camera for holiday snaps and of my young daughter.

Often used indoors in fairly low light for pictures of my daughter.

Am going to Disneyland in June and will need the camera for that.

Miscellaneous

Chosing between the V570 & T9, I like the Wide angle lense and panoramic stitching in the V570. But also like the image stabiliser in the T9.

mm... very hard to decide :)

In this case, it really depends on you, if it was me, I'll get the V570, it'll be fun to use the MPEG4 video and panorama shots in disneyland, much more fun than using image stabilizer.

Image quality wise, even though the T9 probably better, I think it's not worth to sacrifice the 23mm, since both are ultracompacts anyway.

Well... here's the deal, you can do anything the T9 will do with the V570, but there are too many features of V570 you cannot do with the T9.

Image stabilizer is nice to have, and it's fun to play with as well, but again.. its a matter of personal preference.

For shooting disneyland lights, I'm confident that V570 with ISO400 (use noise reduction program later), at 1/20s will do a fine job.

If I could suggest you another way, since you have loose budget, get the V570, if you later found out you REALLY need the IS, get another panasonic sub $200 stabilized camera, this will give you both features :)

I have many cameras, but I'm still thinking to get V570. I have Sony W1, Panasonic FZ5, Sony H1, and still wanting a V570 ;)

Ok, I went for it and bought the V570.

I got it for £219.20 from Dixons online, and it arrived yesterday. From first impressions, I'm very impressed and think I made the right choice.

The panoramic stitching is far better than I expected and you really can fit alot more in the picture with the wide angle lense.

Although it hasn't got an image stabiliser it does have an indicator that tells you instantly if the picture is of good enough quality to print.

Great camera, lots of features and easy to use. I'm pleased with my purchase.

What ever you do, do not buy the above. All of their camera's are disposable. They do not make parts for them, and if they break, they will only exchange your camera. You have to pay the difference. In other words, you get ripppped off.
They fail to tell us the consumer that when you buy.
