Jeff's attempt to review Pentax cameras

Since this is a common question and people think that I don't try to get Pentax cameras, I'm going to keep a log here of my attempts to get their cameras. I will update it as things happen (or don't happen). Hopefully someone at Pentax will see this, and things will change.

March 5, 2006: Requested Optio A10, T10, W10 review units with marketing manager.
March 15, 2006: No response yet
March 23, 2006: Still no response
April 19, 2006: Still nothing.
May 1, 2006: Sent e-mail again.
May 1, 2006: Got a response! Optio A10 on the way!

Hmmm ... is that a Pentax I see in the background in the S3 IS stabilizer test shot ? ;)

Hey, you could be right!

My guess is that its the rebadged Samsung GX-1S.

Yup, its gotta be the GX-1S. After rebadging the *ist DS2, I nothing's really changed in the exterior. The back still looks the same. Go to the GX-1S homepage, scroll down and you'll see what I mean.

(Dying to get a summer job...Must get..Pentax *ist DS...lol)

Well, it's sort of a Pentax... as the other guys said, it's the Samsung GX-1S.

Never heard back from the Pentax marketing manager. Guess they just don't want to deal with me.

Yea, its rather unfortunate. Pentax products are already underexposed in the media as it is. Especially their line of consumer digital cameras.

Can't even let one camera out of their sight for a couple weeks. :(

(Oh btw, hey, Jeff. I joined a couple days ago and just wanted to say what you are doing here at DCRP is great! I like the vast array of camera reviews and whole appearence of the site. Escpecially the forum system. Its very user friendly! Keep up the good work!)
