This is a shot (of a Black-Crowned Night Heron) I took yesterday with my FZ10, handheld, Mode 1, 1/1000, f7.3, at full zoom + 2X digital zoom. Some folks argue "Why shoot digital zoom, when you can always crop a full optical zoom to get the same result?" I feel that when I'm out in the field, looking at the bird through the viewfinder, the digital zoom gives me the view I want of the bird, allowing me to capture and crop right in the camera. This image had no post-processing or cropping applied, other than a level tweak in iPhoto. It looks printable to me. Does anyone with other camera types have any DZ shots to post?
