Quick FZ5 questions

Just got this recently and had two questions.

First, is it possible to adjust or "step down" the flash at all? It seems a little harsh (and the crazy popping noise it sometimes makes scares me). I thought I read something about this, but could be wrong.

Second, is there any way to kill the shut-down screen that says Lumix? I know I have a Lumix camera, and would rather it just shut down. But it doesn't really matter.

yeah you can soften the flash just press up on the control a couple of times to get the menu same as for exposure

Hi, I just got a new FZ5. I'm very pleased so far. But I'm already thinking about a wide-angle lens. I know panasonic doesn't make one but the dcresource review directs inquiries to the forum.

Any ideas? I'd might want a telephoto multiplier too. And filters...
