Two versus One

If I want to buy, say, 2GB of memory, is there any particular advantage to having two 1GB cards versus one 2GB card? (Camera I'm considering is Sony DSC-R1, if that matters.)

Depends on the individual. Some say go with the largest card, while others say there is more security having two smaller cards. The theory being that if something does happen to a card, you still are good to go with the other one. I use two smaller cards for that reason, as I don't like putting all my eggs in one basket. :)

I like having two cards. I can put different subjects on separate cards and not have to sort them later as I would if everything was on one card.
