I am now two weeks away from a trip to China and my bloody D70 has just turned into a nicely flashing brick.
How long do Nikon take to repair and return camers with this problem??
This being a US based forum you will probably find that most of the answers to your question will be irelevant. Ring the local Nikon distributor on Monday, tell them your situation an ask for service to support your situation. It's all you can do.

Yes - you're probably right. The post was born from rage and frustration...

Glen, Mine took 2 weeks from shipment day to receipt day, but that is in the US. I think Nikon's rule-of-thumb is 7 working days turn-around. You might be able to get them to expedite considering the situation, and that this is now a known problem on earlier cameras. This happened to mine a little over a year ago just before a trip to Japan. Luckily I still had my 990.
So box it up and get it ready to ship on Monday.
It is a bummer, but you'll get over it.
