Hi All

Does anyone else out there have the above combination???. I am a graphic designer and have both of the above. My problem--well eos capture just will not work on the mac even though i have downloaded the updated software from the canon site. And just in case it matters i downloaded all of the software which i got originally with the camera, then i tried to open the eos capture-it started opening (as in the icon started hopping in my docking bar) then it just stopped. Now i went to the canon website and downloaded the updated software for any bits i found relevant (including the one which includes updated patches for mac osx then went to relaunch and exactly the same thing happened again. Now personally i dont understand how a camera like this will not operate fully and be compatible with all macs as well as pcs being that macs are used primarily by creative people ie. designers/photographers (at least they do over this side of the world) or am i living in a dreamworld?? If anyone has had this problem and thinks they can help me i would very much appreciate it - i want to use the canon software as opposed to the mac software as the canon one allows more freedom/choice when downloading pics. Thanks all!

I do not find your post all that clear, but I will try.

How is the Canon software more free with downloading? You can use Image Capture (you don't have to use iPhoto) and you can select which photos you want to download or download them all.

To download photos you do not need EOS Capture but Image Browser. Image Browser works fine with Mac OS X 10.4.x .

Hi there Coldrain
Many thanks for your reply and sorry if i did not explain well enough. The original canon image capture allowed the user to view the shots when connected to the camera and then before downloading you could choose which ones individually you wanted to download. As far as i can tell from using iphoto it will not allow the user to do this and will simply download all of the photos and if you have a 2 gig card that is full of shots that is a lot of photos to have to wait to download. The eos capture i presumed would be a progression of what the original image capture did. This is why i had hoped to use it as opposed to i-photos. My question is really why they (being canon) would allow a program like this not to be compatible with macs (and mine is not even one of the new intel chipped ones) being that macs are primarily used by creatives, or is there a patch available to fix this problem. Once again i thank you for taking the time to answer. All the very best

Image Capture is standard Mac OS X software. You will find it in your Applications folder. If you start it up, you can set, under the menu 'Image Capture / Preferences...', the program you want to have start up when you connect a camera. In your computer that is set to iPhoto. You can set it to Image Capture, or to Canon's Image Browser.

This way, the program you want to use gets started when you connect your camera.

EOS Capture is a program used by I think Canon Image Browser to make photos using the computer via the USB lead. I have not used it yet, though.
