Hi all,
I'm looking for long zoom and the best quality nightshot (most important).
I'm interested in Z3, Z2 and DX7590.
Thanks to help me in choice.

For more info, here that i'd found for cons of these cameras:

Z3: soft image, noise probleme (personaly, i prefere Z3 but the noise problem as in review of this site is not accetable. Someone could tell me if this's really not acceptable?). Megapixel.net set this camera the best for quality image.

Z2: no stabilisation, soft image

DX7590: no stabilisation, no manual focus, no manual white balance, soft image.

Hi Jayde,
I know that u love FZ generation.
I read good review about FZ too, but it costs more than my budget (for FZ20, il costs 200Euros more than DX7590, hic..).
My budjet is less than 450Euros. I've tried Z3 and love it. But really, its noice makes me fear.

I know that there're more good points for DX7590 than Z3. But the facts that DX7590 has not stabilization, manul focus and manul white balance make me very confused.

So for a budget less 450 Euros and the best quality image , exceptiontly in night shot, what's the camera ?
(Z2,Z3,DX7590, C765 or orther ?)

(Z2,Z3,DX7590, C765 or orther ?)Pham, did you look at the Panasonic DMC-FZ3, or does it have too few megapixels for you? It's gotten good reviews both by Jeff and also by Simon Joinson of http://www.dpreview.com. And it's cheaper than the FZ20 by ~$200US.

Hi all,

I've jus gotten my Oly 770UZ (black), love it for the compact size and 10X zoom. The Pana FZs are just a bit too clunky for my liking, though I do like the Leica lens very much. I got it for USD488 including an extra Li-10B battery and Olympus case from Japan. I'd expect the prices in Europe to be similar.

The Oly has very decent nightshots capabilities and I have not encountered any serious shake problems at 10x zoom yet. The battery life is not really that fantastic so an extra battery would help.

Overall, the 770UZ is compact enough and the design is low-key enough to be carried around without attracting too much attention to yourself.

My advise is buy a camera that suit your needs and requirements. The photo quality of different cameras are not that much different nowadays, with technology gaps narrowing rather than widening between companies. Any major difference in quality would only be obvious if you print very large sizes.

Unless you need the manual look at the review of the FZ3 at www.dpreview.com Go to the last "compared to" section. The FZ3 has better resolving power than the KM Z2. You might also want to look at the article on http://www.steves-digicams.com/ concerning megapixels. If you need the higher resolution then you NEED it, but numbers by themselves are not enough. Look at the reviews on this site. Both the DZ7590 and KM Z3 loose points for overly "soft" images (muddy I think was the term for the Kodak). As Jeff says, look at the full size images. Since you specify the need for more pixels, I'd look particularly at the leaves on the trees.

Hi Pham...

More or less I hesitated between same cameras like you...

Firstly: the Z3 KM: not reputated for good night picture... noisy... If you are french just like me (tolking about "fnac", so may be...) look at this full thread: http://forum.hardware.fr/hardwarefr/Photonumerique/sujet-3602-2.htm

Cooled isn't it?

The FZ3: As I see in the dcr review it is not the best for night picture to (too mush barrel distortion like every pana big zoom, vigneting, low shutter speed, redeye...) and at the end only a 3.2MP with low video quality... and a monster! For all the other points for sur it is the best of your choices...

DX 7590: the one I finally chose... 16sec shutter speed, good picture until 200ISO, 5MP... the only cons I can find is some purple fringing... but only visible in few of my pictures and only at full size...
For sure no image stabilisation but for night shots anyway you need a tripop to support long shutter speed... after one month utilisation... I did not feel it is something missing...
Optical zoom is one of the best I have seen... quasi no distortion...
Here you can see some sample I took with it, with exif... I specify that I am beginer... my interest for photoghaphy comes with the 7590...

http://www.darwinonline.org/index.php?cat=10479

Long focal album particularly, indoor under low light whithout flash and long shutter speed...

I think that dx 7590 is has to reconsider in your choice... It is a very good camera...

Vincent.

According to Jeff's review (http://www.dcresource.com/reviews/fuji/finepix_s5100-review/index.shtml) of the Fuji s5100, the FZ3 is smaller than the DX7590, and lighter. Perhaps you were thinking of the larger FZ20?

Your photos are very good, though. It shows what a good camera can do with a tripod. And you may be one of those lucky persons who can hold his camera very still for long-duration shutterspeeds. Personally, I so hate carrying around a tripod for all my low-light shots, I'll choose a camera with an image stabilizer, to help steady my photos in a much more portable way.

My final choice should be FZ3.
Z3 has randomtly problems, should have a chance to get a good Z3 (i've seen topic of Z3 on hardware.fr)
DX7590 is not bad, but IS is important for me, so last choice is FZ3.

The last thing before commande that i'd like to touch FZ3. Unfortulatly, in Paris , i haven't found in any store.
