I've been trying to sort through reviews and I keep coming up empty-handed. If you guys could at least steer me in the right direction, I would appreciate any help you could give me :) .

Budget

* What budget have you allocated for buying this camera? Please be as specific as possible. Under $175 for the camera. I've got about $30-$40 to spend on a memory card to go with it.

Size

* What size camera are you looking for? Or does size not matter at all to you? Pretty small... I'd like to be able to fit it in my pocket.

Features

How many megapixels will suffice for you? 3 to 4

* What optical zoom will you need? (None, Standard = 3x-4x, Ultrazoom = 10x-12x, Other - Specify) Standard

* How important is “image quality” to you? (Rate using a scale of 1-10) Probably around a 7? I want my pictures to look nice, but I'm not planning on using this for professional photos or anything.

Do you care for manual controls? They're nice to have, but I don't typically use them too much.

General Usage

* What will you generally use the camera for? Mostly snapshots. Vacations, pictures of friends, etc. Maybe some nature photography.

* Will you be making big prints of your photos or not? I doubt it. I don't think I've ever printed bigger than 5x7.

Will you be shooting a lot of indoor photos or low light photos? There would be a fair amount of indoors but not much low-light.

Will you be shooting sports and/or action photos? Probably not.

Miscellaneous

Are there particular brands you like or hate? Not really. I have/had a Fuji A205 that froze on me a lot and finally died a month or so ago. That doesn't mean I would be opposed to another Fuji, as long as their other cameras don't have the same problem (I know several other people who had the A205 and it froze on them as well).

Are there particular models you already have in mind? I was looking at the Canon Powershot A520 but was a little turned off by the red-eye problems.

(If applicable) Do you need any of the following special features? (Wide Angle, Image Stabilization, Weatherproof, Hotshoe, Rotating LCD) Not really.

One other thing that I would like is a reasonably quick shot-to-shot time. My Fuji A205 seemed pretty sluggish in that aspect, so anything quicker than that would be good :).

The Canon A520 and A510 have gone down in price a lot. They are not super slow, only the time the flash needs to recharge is slow. They offer a lot for the money.

"Pretty small... I'd like to be able to fit it in my pocket."

What kind of pocket? A510/A520 will fit in your jacket pocket, but not pant's pocket.

Ideally, I'd like a camera that could fit in a pants pocket or a smaller interior jacket pocket. The A510/A520 is probably near the limits of how big I'd want.

If it helps, some other cameras I've been looking at lately are the Fuji Finepix A345 and A400, and the Canon Powershot 410.
