Budget

$400

Size

Want to be able to carry it in my pocket. I already have a dSLR. Don't need really small

Features

How many megapixels will suffice for you? - 6 mp

* What optical zoom will you need? (None, Standard = 3x-4x, Ultrazoom = 10x-12x, Other - Specify) - standard

* How important is “image quality” to you? (Rate using a scale of 1-10) - 8

Do you care for manual controls? - yes

General Usage

* What will you generally use the camera for? - cary cam or for backpacking. It will be the primary camera for my wife.

* Will you be making big prints of your photos or not? - 8x10 max. However, I may do extensive cropping.

Will you be shooting a lot of indoor photos or low light photos? - not to much

Will you be shooting sports and/or action photos? no

Miscellaneous

Are there particular brands you like or hate? - no

Are there particular models you already have in mind? - no

(If applicable) Do you need any of the following special features? (Wide Angle, Image Stabilization, Weatherproof, Hotshoe, Rotating LCD)

- Wide angle will be nice
- MUST have an bright eye level viewfinder. I NEVER use the screen in the back
- eye level viewfinder must show as close to 100% of the actual image as possible. I like to carefully compose in the viewfinder. The Canon S40 that I used to have drove me crazy because I always got a lot more than I expected and had to crop almost all my pictures.

Thanks a lot.

I'd look at the Konica's Z6.

6MP 12X optical, etc. take a look at it, I'm debating picking one up for a quick p&s.

One of the things that drove me crazy w my Canon S40 was that the eye level viewfinder only showed about 80% of what I actually got. I ended up having to crop almost all of my picutres which takes time and wasted pixels.

Other than that, I did like the S40. How is the S80 in this regard?
