Im trying to take action photos at the indoor rock climbing gym, where there is low light. The problem is if i use a flash then i cant use burst mode, and im getting a cheap washed-out effect. When i dont use the flash and lower my shutter speed, the climber is blurry. are there anyother adjustments i could try to and make to capture the motion and use the low light?
i have a Canon digital rebel xt, Sigma 18-50mm f2.8

Higher ISO (iso 1600)
Wider aperture (f/2.8)
no flash

at 50mm you would want your shutter speed to be around 1/100 to capture motion.

Hope this helps

Bump up the ISO to 800 or 1600 , shoot in aperture priority at max aperture (f/2.8) as suggested above, and if necessary shoot at -0.7 or -.1 EV compensation to get a higher shutter speed... you can add a stop of brightness in post a lot easier than you can fix motion blur.
