* What budget have you allocated for buying this camera? Less than £250 which is around $430

* What size camera are you looking for? Or does size not matter at all to you? Preferably looking for an ultracompact

Features

How many megapixels will suffice for you?

* What optical zoom will you need? Standard = 3x-4x

* How important is “image quality” to you? 7

Do you care for manual controls? No

General Usage

* What will you generally use the camera for? Point-and-shoot

* Will you be making big prints of your photos or not? Probably not

Will you be shooting a lot of indoor photos or low light photos? Yes

Will you be shooting sports and/or action photos? Yes

Miscellaneous

Are there particular brands you like or hate? Like Sony but don't particularly hate any brands

Are there particular models you already have in mind?

low light and ultra compact is the worst mix ever.

Try to wait for the Canon Powershot SD600.

If you like Sony and ultra-compact then you might want to check out the Cyber-shot DSC-T9 (Jeff's review is here (http://www.dcresource.com/reviews/sony/dsc_t9-review/)). It's a little more ($450 US) than your specified budget but it looks like a better choice for low light photos than the T5 that you mentioned. It has image stabilization and decent photo quality at ISO 400, and also has ISO 640 if you really need it. I've never tried it myself but it looks like a promising camera.

How about the new Panasonics: TZ1, LZ3, LZ5? They are coming in March.
