Are remanufactured inkjet cartridges any good or perhaps dangerous? I just bought one, black and it isn't working well for me. I did a print alignment test and the black ink is streaky as if it needs to be replaced although the ink level is 100% but the color is fine, the old color cartridge is fine but isn't a remanufactured one.

I have an HP PSC 1350. Any suggestions? Is it the cartridge? I bought it at Staples.

remanufactured is ok with me. But I do think the quality of OEM is not that good.

I avoid DIY refillable ink kits. More of a hassle to fill and manually calibrate. Esp. if you want photo quality prints you'll stick with OEM. BTW, OEM stands for "Original Equipment Manufacturer" which is ink made directly from HP, Canon, etc. -- the quality of OEM is as good as you'll get. 3rd party ink is where results vary.

With HP, you replace the ink head at the same time as the cartridge, which yields better results when printing to start with a fresh ink head rather than using an older, gunked up ink head. I'll use Office store coupons to get the prices down, along with buying combo kits.

DIY refill kits are good the more basic (and old) your printer is. Nowadays, there's electronics all over the cartridge plus the ink is usually 'sealed' save the bottom outlet. If you got one of those early colour printers w/ cartridges that have exposed ink sponges, ink refill kits are your best bet.

HP has a several patents about dot firing counting, and also if you will by severla cartridges by hp - you will see a different result on printing. anyway an original is better, because there is no bubbles in ink and no cogation of ink in nozzles.

I have actually had good luck refilling cartridges with my hp. It's a 950c and it's the kind of printer fred flintstone prolly used (about 8 years old i think.) I also had a lexmark before i got mad at it for sucking and threw it out the window that NEVER refilled. Every time i'd say 'well i'll give this one more shot' and tried to refill the cartridge it always clogged up and wound up needing to be replaced. But, on the other hand, i've refilled the same color cartridge on my HP for the past 3 years. At least 10 refills or so without any problems. Now, for my REAL prints i use a canon ip4200 and i wouldn't think of refilling that with generic ink because i do sell prints from it and i only want canon's wonderful pigment based water resistant goodness. That and the print head is seperate and i don't want some unknown ink clogging it up. Only way to really know if it works for your printer is to try it. Good luck.
