Hi, How necessary are either of the filters for the Panasonic FZ20?

ND filter DMW-LND72 $35 Reduces the amount of light hitting the lens without affecting the color balance

MC protector DMW-LMC72 $50 Protect your lens from the elements; has no effect on photo quality

Thank you.

HI
:)
Yes its very important to protect that Leica lens with a UV Filter.. you can buy a basic hoya 72MM UV and save money on the pana ones, you dont really need a ND Filter though.. thats for special effects, deal with it later ok.
maybe buy a linear polarizer filter instead altho its not vital.. just cuts out reflections in water and glass.. if u needed that..

but get my zip file.. it has details as to why you may need a smaller 62mm adaptor if you intend to add any other lens.
and it takes a smaller 62mm filter size... much cheaper..:)

lots of info and links to other cheaper lens..

i agree, the first two lenses I plan on getting are a plain glass filter to protect the lens and a linear polarizing filter (and I'm going to get the 72mm -> 62mm adaptor :)
