Hello,
I am totally clueless when it comes to photography and am hoping someone can help me with buying a new camera.
I currently have a Canon Powershot S50 which I ALWAYS use in Auto. I have an upcoming safari and want to buy a 'good' camera which will give me good quality photos. I used my Powershot in Alaska last year and wasn't overly excited with the results (probably because I used the 'Auto' function and not the camera's fault).
What I want to buy (if it exists) is an easy to use camera that I can set to Auto, which will give me good results. I need a good zoom and possibly image stabilisation for the safari. I also want to be able to use the camera as a 'general purpose' camera on my return. I am not too bothered with movies as I have a good quality camcorder for that purpose.
I am not familiar with photo editing packages so would want something that would give me good photos without major editing and also something which has a relatively easy to use package for downloading.
I am prepared to pay up to around $550 (but don't mind if its significantly cheaper either!!) but I will want the camera to be an 'investment' which I will not have to change for some time.
Sorry if I have asked the impossible but any guidance would be much appreciated.
