Is it rotating?

I'm thinking of buying one. The sigma is known to be better, but I've heard alot of complaints that the Sigma have worse quality control, tat getting a bad copy is more probable. Sigma also maxed at around 155mm~180mm, not as far as 200mm.

But if the Tamron have rotating front element, I'll reconsider the sigma. I've handled the Tamron for Canon, build quality is much worse than the Sigma, but...I don't know why, I'm still leaning to Tamron, But between these two, the front rotation plays a big factor.

thanks

According to Tamron's website, that lens has IF (Internal Focusing) like the Sigma does, so I would think it should be the same.

my confusion came from the SLRGear website. They write the Tamron as an Internal Focusing: YES with Front Element Rotation: YES:confused:

That will teach you to stray. I can't think of any recent lens where the end tube rotates. These two lenses are both IF types.

Even with the shorter focal length the Sigma is rated a sharper lens overall.

My Tokina lens has IF and a rotating front element, but the filter threading is in the actual barrel, so a circular polarizer can still be used. IF and a rotating element is easily possible :)

Like I said, none that I knew of. Not sure the Tokina 18-200 is a recent design.;)

I'm not a big fan of the 18-200's but they are utilitarian.

Yes you can use a CPL with either the Sigma or the Tamron 18-200s, the front element does not rotate...
