I got banned from Photography-on-the.net today for "Repeated violation of forum rules."

Apparently it's against the rules to have a signature that says "I had a cool signature line but a mod censored it."

At least, according to one mod it is. Bug up his/her butt maybe? Sent an email to the site owner to see what he says, if anything.

I'm curous why you think tha this is appropriate here? This forum is for discussing digital cameras, digital slr's. As the site owners have not put up a general discussion forum (which is, I will grant you, is a mistake in my opinion) there is no place on this site for dissing other site owners or organizing spam wars against others.

And why don't you send an email to the site owner? Why must we? I would hope that you have already done so. If you have, and they're not budging, then the mod is just doing his/her job. It is, after all, a private forum. It's not the property of some hippy internet equality movement after all.

Between you freaking out on people for breaking your "fool proof" image protection schemes in attempts to help you and threads where you try to engeneder resentment and hate I'm beginning to think you do this for sport.

I did email the site owner and was reinstated. I don't do this for "sport" and since I post a good bit here, I decided I would vent a little bit here. I know it has nothing to do with cameras in particular but it's another photography forum. I wasn't trying to rally hate or anything...just vent a little. I would have deleted this thread (I was reinstated over there before you even responded) but I don't see a way to do that, if it's even possible.

Don, do you have a secret life that we don't know about...?

I don't think I've laughed this hard, this early in a long time.

Peter, are you hosting the next spam war organizing party? I'll bring the spam and I'll fry it up good!

I just had the funniest thought go through my head, I saw Don, sitting at his computer, leading the next spam war, the lights were low, after all there isn't much ambience, he had panty-hose over his head, there was a voodoo doll burning in the corner, and when he turned around, his eyes glowed and I wet myself.

Wait. I have no imagination. Sorry for offending you! :D

Remember, this is a community first. It is okay to share one's experiences so long as they pertain to our hobby.

Don, I completely understand your sentiment.

I admit I'm also banned from dpreview, seems permanently.

I need to post there, can anyone lend me a username & password, in case u don't want it anymore? (I'M SERIOUS :) )

Actually I'm afraid to start the request thread, but this thread seems appropriate.

Wow - how'd I get dragged into this one? I'm just stuck in another airport minding my own business today. (Though I did just read on CNN.com that Bush declared Don another "Evil Empire". ;) )

Long before I get thrown off a forum, I drift into other forums and decide the people that run the forum are complete twits. I got fed up with the ambackyard forum and posted a few controversial postings there. I don't know whether I got banned or not - haven't been back to see. Don't really care either.

Luckily this is the only forum I actively participate in :D

I do belong to the Fred Miranda forums, just in case I find something interesting in the Buy+Sell forum :)

Matthew - you're certainly welcome to your opinion and different points of view are what make these forums worthwhile. I personally hope you continue to participate on this forum and post your honest opinions.

To change gears a bit, how do you like your XT? What kinds of stuff are you shooting? :)

Good post Peter!

I'd like to echo your statement ". . . different points of view are what makes these forums worthwhile."

That was a nice perspective, one thats hard to speak from at times. And its a nice fresh no BS type of statement from people like you that help keep things inline - I mean I have Don burning voodoo dolls in the corner and wearing panty-hose on his head for christs sake! LOL - it was all in good humor though! it adds humor/character/imagination - all of which can be easily misinterpreted though.

I mean it though. =) 100% serious here. Thanks for posting this point of view. Its nice to be grounded.

I don't want to appear to be a jerk, really I don't. I appreciate that you appreciate my opinion.

I like my xt just fine, I still have thousands of images I need to process from my recent trip to France, I will try to post some of them soon!

Wish I could afford to go to France or some such nice place. Instead I'm stuck here taking photos of my porch sans B&H box... (kind of explains why I can't afford to go places huh?)

Can't wait to see some of your pics Matthew (can I call you Matt? It's shorter...)

i must have missed this thread

i enjoy reading these kinda threads every once in a while. the jokes, the venting - it's all good. hey, it IS photography-forum related. and after all, if this is a "community" we should be able to talk this way.

"and when he turned around, his eyes glowed and I wet myself."

LOL parm

capedeci: lol, what did you do to get banned from a placed where inappropriate behavior is so common?
