i have an olympus camedia d-560 zoom digital camera. there is a 64 MB card in it with about 90 pictures. i turned it on recently and the screen says 'card setup' and my two options are format or power off. it won't let me do anything else. i don't want to format it because i'll lose the pictures. when i hook it up to my mac, it says the card is unreadable. what's wrong and can i fix it without losing the pictures?

I am not going to be much help with one of those Apple things. But I have questions as your post was not very clear. You say "when i hook it up to my mac, it says the card is unreadable." Hook what up? The camera with the card inserted? The card in a card reader? What version of Mac and which OS? Do you own other memory cards? Are they working okay in the camera? There are a number of image recovery programs for the Windows world, but I cannot tell you if there are similar programs for the Mac OS. These all generally require a card reader. If you do not have one now would be a good time to unvest the $20 to get one in case it is your camera, not the card.

Can you still see the images using on the camera preview?
