How about a competition forum.
Each week we get to suggest a list of topics
The next week we get to vote on which topic should be the subject
The following week we take pictures and submit them
The week after that we have two votes - one for finalists and then the finals vote.
We could have a prize-winners list ranked in order of the number of competitions won. I see no need for an actual physical prize though as it'd take the fun out of the competition.
I got fed up with the Fred Miranda competitions because they have some great photos and some really bad ones. Selection of finalists seems to be random rather than based on visual impact, photographic technique or technical merit.
