My c-720 will not power up, I tried different batteries and nothing. So I got a repair quote of $124.00 plus shipping both ways. Supposedly the Power PCB failed. I paid $400.00 for this camera when it was new. For $124.00 I think I will get another one, just not a Olympus.

I have a C-720 that is still going pretty strong, but it may fail someday. All consumer electronics will fail like this eventually, it's in the nature of the product. There are plenty of folks out there who will tell you how their Canon, Sony, Nikon, Panasonic, Casio, etc failed without warning and no way to fix it.

I'd be hardpressed to eliminate a whole line of cameras from consideration until I saw something to indicate that it was significantly worse than other manufacturers. It's tough to swallow when it's your camera that died, but it's a single isolated data point. Is much as I hope my cameras last forever, I view them as having a 2-5 year lifetime. Any use I get beyond that is gravy.

Wishing you good luck with your next camera.

not the nature of the product...its the nature of the producer....if they made cameras that lasted 7 billion years they would be out of buisness now wouldnt they
