Congrats! I figured you'd get a good price for it. A good Canon lens, regardless of being an L or not, will hold its value.
I've decided to hold off on that lens myself. I don't absolutely need it right now and don't foresee a need for awhile. I may need the Sigma 30 if I shoot live bands at a local pub but that doesn't look as promising as it did earlier either.

Pretty happy with the result, figured anything over AUD350 (approx USD250) was a bonus.
Only a small dent in a new 85mm L II though.:(

Hey Christian,
Didn't you say you were going to sell the 300 f/4 too? Is that still the plan?

It is my plan now, just wanted to have confirmation on the new 85 before I went ahead.
Prolly put it up tomorrow.

Cool cool. How much you think you're gonna get for it? I see them going new for $1150 US ($1555 AUSD?) at B+H.

That low huh?
The sticker price here is AUD2,799 so was hoping for around AUD1,300 but now I'm not so sure...

I'm pretty sure thats the right lens...although they show it in the new brown-ish color which I really don't like. But who am I to comment? :D

We will see. There are still a shitload of ignorant Aussies around who have no idea about internet-shopping in general or B&H in particular.;)

eBay is a hotbed of ignorant shoppers. I sold that used Minolta IV Auto Meter for $215 plus shipping on there. I paid $150 for it. ;)
You can have a brand new Minolta V for $219.95 from B&H... :)

No dramas Parm, I would however prefer to do business with someone totally anonymous, IYKWIM.
Even though it has been well taken care of, I always feel uncomfortable doing business with people I know.

I had emailed him about buying it but we decided 'til shipping was figured up, the savings wouldn't be all that significant. $315 brand new @ B&H plus $26.95 for the hood.

Good deal - You have point though with the business dealings. . . If my initial pictures would have been crappy I would have totally blamed you and mailed it back in a cracker jack box! ;) just kidding bud. . . I was under the impression it would perform better having been broken in on a seasoned pro's camera body. . . ? oh well ;)
