And look, it's got an 85L Mark II on it. The price of used mark 1's just plummeted everywhere!
Woo-Hoo! Still 8MP's (so I don't have to buy new memory cards)!
Spot Metering
ISO in Viewfinder
ISO in 1/3 stop increments
2.5" LCD
Better battery life
Option to NOT rotate in LCD but still have pics rotate in windows
Ships in March...Put me on the list!

This will be the camera that makes me upgrade from the XT. Pretty much all the features I've waited for in a body. ... ;)

Looks good - just what I was expecting.
Good to see that these cameras are starting to mature to the point that there aren't substantial upgrades released every 18 months (or less in some cases; ala 10D).
A 20D owner can sit tight till the next generation which is probably at least 12 months away - meaning he could have had at least 3 years out of his camera.
Same with a 1D Mark II owner. The madness had to stop eventually.

"Speed and performance that improve than ever"
"DIGC II"

I'm excited about the 2.5" LDC.
That alone is reason enough for me to buy it.
I'm a tad disappointed in the amount of MP.
I was hoping for 9-10.

Same here (though the new lens really drives it home). Although some may call this more evolutionary than revolutionary. It shows that Canon was listening, and it has delivered. Of all of those, the last that I would have imagined happening was the spot metering. :p

Yea. . . it will be easy to decide on a 20D or 30D for me. . . simply because the price of a new 20D probably won't drop enough to make it a no brainer and because of these new upgrades make the 30D the worthy upgrade from the XT just as Toney pointed out - For me the spot metering, 2.5" LCD, ISO change in viewfinder, ISO 1/3 increments + the same 5fps as the 20D are the reasons I'd get the 30D. Anyway. . . All this waiting and I feel kind of jipped! But Christian has a good point. . . the madness did have to stop. I'll tell you one thing. The lack of an incremental change to the MPs does not bother me one bit. I am content at 8.2MP. Then again, I guess thats the greediness talking and I'd probably be more than happy with a 20D. . . I dunno. . . The great thing is I can't afford either right now so I really don't need to worry about it. . .
BTW - that looks good with the 85 1.2 mk II on it. "woooweeee it look good."

Exactly Andy _ 8.2MP for me means not having to buy more CF cards for one thing. I'll be selling my XT which is practically new by the way. Just hope I can snag one of these before June ... :o ... since it seems a lot of 20D owners aren't too impressed maybe the availability won't be an issue.

Looks like 30D for me. The non-dramatic change is what does it for me.
The 30D has most of what I wanted fixed with the 20D and some others that I didn't notice too.. :D
I like the potential price, (sucks for Brits).
The new 17-55 f/2.8 lens also seems interesting. Canon is really proud of it with what they are asking. It's a super-expensive EFS lens for god sakes.
The 85L II is also pretty damn pricey, what gives?

Isn't the new 85L close to the list price of the old one?
And considering the 17-55 f2.8, it has 2 UD elements, the 24-105 f4 has 1. I think the price is pretty much on par with the 24-105 and the Nikkor 17-55 f2.8, and I think the price pretty much reflects the value of the optical elements used. If the image quality will hold up, I for one am not complaining about the price.

There is a 600 dollar diffference in price. That is a lot to ask for no new optics and no cosmetic changes. Weather sealing added?
Like I said, if the images hold up, the price is a non-issue. I am a firm believer in getting what I paid for. :)

CR was talking about the 17-55 . . . I agree with you Obi on the 85 L - what was it qouted at about 2,000 vs the 1499 for the old version?
