Thanks Christian. A good visual guide to taking wedding photos. It looks like some of the non-flash shots were taken in indirect daylight.

Anyway your pictures are worth 1000 words each. We need to hunt up a good wedding photographer on the Nikon site, although your camera settings seem to be pretty much inline with any dSLR/SLR.

Too bad you can't transmit how long the day really was.;)

The day is VERY long. This one was a late start (at 9:00 AM!), usually it's an 8:00 AM start and it has not been uncommon to finish doing night shots after the reception at say around 1:00 AM the next morning.

If you plan on quoting a Macedonian wedding of this nature then I suggest you double your fee because you will work your butt off all day and all night.

These guys are generally quite conservative which complements their traditional nature. Very few occassions to get creative as I would normally, and most shots are really just event photography - which isn't really challenging as you don't get to play with light so much. In fact the greatest challenge is timing as there is so many little things going on and you need to be ready for everything.

Just goes to show that all weddings are different (and peoples tastes as well) so you have to adapt to your clients' needs - no matter how far away from your own personal style that is.

CDI and Jamie and other aspiring wedding snappers, beware of the double wedding - you work twice as hard! Logistics were difficult, eg; group shots: I had to set up each B&G at the same time but a few metres apart and the family (there were many) went to each in turn.

Then the park photos were hard too. I had stuff-all time so had to do two couples in half an hour with fading light - and make their photos somehow seem different to each other, wasn't easy but all possible.

Anyway, interesting culture and I bloody felt like I earned my money. I need some sleep...
