I have the stylus 400 and I think its a great camera but when I open the cover the camera will not stay on. As soon as I touch the cover it shuts off. I think I need to replace the sensor behind the cover but where do I get the parts? I went to the local camera shop and they wont order the parts for me they only offer to fix it at crazy prices. I think I can fix it If I had the parts.

I'm not sure, but it sounds like your camera is having the same problems mine did. When I would go to take a picture the lens started retracting. At first, it seemed like it was doing it because I touched the cover, hence, I thought I needed the same replacement part as yours might need. However, after using it another month, it powered down altogether and never operated again. I took it to a camera shop who sent it to Olympus and was told I needed to pay $169 to have the thing repaired - there was an internal problem and the camera was not "powering up". I then went onto eBay to see if buying a used one was a better option and found that another consumer was selling her Stylus 400 b/c she was having the same problem. I feel there is a manufactural defect with this series, but no one at Olympus will shoot straight with me. I wish they'd do a recall b/c I paid $400 for this thing and only got a year and a half's use out of it. NOT HAPPY. Will I buy another Olympus? No. And I'm very disappoibnted with them - their quality has decreased and many other companies are beating them out.
