Canon 24-105 f4 L

Anyone have comments about the Canon 24-105 f4 L? There were some problems with the earlier version of this lense, prompting Canon to recall these lenses. But, is the new version good? I am on the border of ordering Canon's 24-70 f2.8 L, but would get the 24-105 if it is of like quality.

The problem lay in a fabrication error in an early batch, no such problems anymore. Whether or not it is a lens that comes up to your expectations, I don't know. Look at www.pbase.com for photos, and on www.fredmiranda.com and www.photographyreview.com for experiences of users of that lens.
