My workflow uses NC4 as the "coarse" post processor, and PS Elements 4, and Noise Ninja for final finishing and cropping, and goes like this:

1. Download about 160 RAW images (1GB CF) to a folder with the camera counter range (Example: 3500-3660).

2. Back up folder to DVD (RW).

3. Batch convert folder to JPEG sub folder. This can take about 30 minutes, but saves a lot of time later, as some "keepers" don't require post-processing.

I use Digital PIE to review pictures, quickly, full screen, and note the keepers and those needing post-processing. Rename as nnnn_kpr.jpg and file in the JPEG subfolder.

4. Post-process RAW images as needed, and save as, nnnn_adj.jpg, files in the JPEG sub folder. Save uncompleted files as TIFF, in the original RAW folder, for further post processing.

5. Back-up sub folder on DVD (RW).

6. Optional. Print "keepers" at 8 x 10. Print "framers" at 11 x 14, or 13 x 17.

Done.

This goes much faster than it sounds, and worse case you don't have to post process. Nikon Capture batch processor does a better job than in-camera processing, and in the end you still have the original high quality RAW originals (negatives) to work with later, and can quickly review equivalent JPEG's for potential "keepers" and "adjusted" later.

I also just realized that you may not be shooting in RAW/NEF, but I was just thinking in terms of personal work-flow.:o

Any full-frame JPEG viewer/editor will work. I thought Mac's have this function built-in...

If you do decide to use RAW/NEF in the future keep in mind that trying to do gross sort/edit in RAW/NEF is really slow which is why I batch convert all files in NC4 first.

Thanks again yes Iphoto will process raw to jpg I am just afraid that nc4 and cs2 are the "expert" way and they do offer greater detail maybe I am just complicating what should be enjoyment.CS2 I am exploring image processor but retaining exif is still not on Iphoto on the other hand does.Await delivery today of 50mm f1.8D looking forward to this.
