I am looking at buying a 70-200 F/4 L and I ran across this. I could believe the price on it.

Looks like a everyday online price to me. Do a search on PriceGrabber and you'll see several online stores with this lens and prices within a few $ of this. Check the resellers ratings if you have any questions. I have used both Beach Camera & Adorama and have no complaints with either.

That's average. It's the "list price" that's an overly inflated load of crap put there to make the "you pay" price look better.

The reason I thought it was such a good deal is there is a Photo store here in town that has a used one for $559.00

That's because local shops have more overhead to stay in business and they sell fewer items than a comparable online merchant (read: weaker buying power for better pricing from the manufacturer), so their prices are usually higher.


My local shop was asking XT prices on its Rebels, and 20D prices on its XTs when the XT first came out.
