Hi,

can someone please tell me if it is "mandatory" from the photo quality point of view to "work on" (manipulate) digital images taken with dSLR (in a e.g Photoshop) ?
Or are images in any circumstances usable just as taken?
I ask cos I would like to buy Nikon D50, yet don't want to work on each image taken (time issue).
Thanks.

Almost all dSLRs have in-camera adjustments for contrast, sharpness, and saturation (as well as other things), so you can set those to produce the optimum jpeg image quality for each camera.

As long as you don't save your images in Raw format, you should be able to set your parameters to get out of camera images to your liking.
