P880 Accessory Lens Help

I have a P880 and I love it to death. The only thing that I don't understand is the lens adapter. I bought a Lens adapter and the wide angle screw on lens. When I use the lens adapter I find that my pictures only have a small circle in the middle and the rest is black(resembling the end of a porky pig cartoon). The only way to have the picture fill the frame is to zoom all the way out and then the frame is not wide at all. Am I doing something wrong? is there some setting I am not using? or is this the way it is supposed to be?

I, personally, do not like accessory lenses. The 24mm wide angle is enough for me on the P-880. Beyond that you get substantial distortion. The only thing you can do with your accessory lens, is to use it zoomed out.
