Hello. My Powershot S30 broke down after 2.5 years and 37.000 pictures. Don't ask. I need to buy a new camera by Saterday (wedding). I decided to get the Powershot S60 but recently came across the SD300 in a store. I love the ultra-compact size and the movie options which are still below par on the S60. My big question.... how is image quality compared to S60 ? I would very much like to buy the SD300 but image quality comes first. Is it as good as S60? THANKS !!!

I read that a complete review of the SD300 ill be posted on 22/10. One day too late :-) Our shops close at 18:00 PM and the review is only readable in Europe on 22/10 after that. And I need to buy a camera friday afternoon at the latest. A quick score on image quality would be very much appreciated. If S60 = 10, how much is SD300? Thanks !! I truly hope that SD300 is also 9 or 10 because I love the size and movie options !!

Hi!
Check out the sample gallery of SD300! You may also check:
http://consumer.usa.canon.com/app/i...300_sample1.jpg (or other pics on Canon)
Compare with thouse pics of S60 and draw conclusion for yourself.

There are some major differeces between them though.
1. size of a "body" but the lens too! Bigger is better as always ;)
2. "wider zoom" of S60 - 28-100mm vs 35-105mm
3. 5mp vs 4mp though all Canon compact (and ultracompact) 5mp are more noissy (for me too noissy)
4. more shooting options in S60 (apreture priority etc.)
5. can get waterproof case for underwater shooting (S60) - not "allweather" case (no coments about that)
6. ...but with SD300 you've got nice ultracompact point&shoot digicam with 2" LCD newer and faster Digic 2 prossesor.

I have some doubs about SD300 image quality though... All pics I've seen seem to me a bit too soft (maybe it's due to jpeg compresion?!?) and they lack of detail (I've mostly compared SD300 to ixus 410)

It's your call now :)
