View Full Version : FZ20 Remote shutter release?

Maybe i should know this (or should have checked before I bought one - but it's difficult to remember all requirements sometimes) as I have had an FZ20 for a few days now... but I can't seem to find anyway of operating the shutter release remotely. I would have thought that a camera that purports to being a serious model for photograhers would have this ability... either a shutter thread to take a cable release or some other method?

If I have missed something obvious feel free to tell me :o

Thanks Hawkeye - I just found that myself too (it is in the manual!!!)
If anyone has a price anywhere for this it would be appreciated.

Still think it would be easier - and less costly for the good old-fashioned thread in the shutter release.

I ordered and have one from Panasonic. Ordered it under the 'accessories' list for the "DMC-LC1".

The part number used to order it is "VYC0913", "wired shutter remote cont", "$14.98";
and the part has "Panasonic DMW-RS1" marked on it.

Thanks again for the extra info. I'm in the UK so I don't think I can order from that site, but will check out the Panasonic UK site.

As asked in the thread quoted in the previous post - does anyone know the length of the cable? I am assuming it will not be all that long... so again, not as useful as cameras with a thread on the shutter button - that allow me to operate the shutter from 10 metres away with my air release cable (useful for certain types of wildlife photography)

It's about 24" long. If you do a search here you can find a thread about making your own wireless remote.

The wired shutter control is about 2.5 feet.

I made a wireless remote that will operate to 200 feet [70 meters?]\

I frame the shot and then turn on manual focus. I can then take the picture from a distance without disturbing the birds in the nest. I know the trail the deer on my property like. I set up the camera in the 'P' mode.
Yet to get a black bear this year. Roll the garbage can around so I know they are here again this year.
