Recently bought the 5D with 18-70mm, expecting to be able to use my Maxxam lens that i have been using on my Minolta 7000i film camera. Only the 35-100mm minolta lens will work on the 5D. Neither the 50mm macro (Sigma AF) or the 24-85mm (Sigma AF) will engage AF functions on the 5D.

So non-Minolta AF lens typically have problems?

I'm working with Sigma on some answers to compatbility with the 7D and 5D. Others have questioned whether a DT lens will work with AS with some valid technical concerns. Yet I hear Sigma introduced their 18-200 with a Minolta mount. Stay tuned.

Some older (Sigma and other make) lenses do not work on the KM DSLRs, because the communication does not go flawlessly. New Sigma lenses with KM mount will work though.

does anybody know whether there are any problems with the sigma 15-30mm F3.5-4.5 DG?
