Hi, I'm new here... I met digital photography about one year ago, when I bought a Konica Minolta DiMAGE Z20. This is a 5 MP camera with comes with 8x optical zoom.
I'm still happy with the choice, for the very nice price of €240 (bought at an internetshop in Holland) it has numerous possibilities and makes nice pictures.
For a couple of weeks, I'm searching the internet about prices and possibilities for DSLR-camera's.
I've found the KM Dynax 5D a attractive camera. Because I do not want to loose zoom capacity, I'm looking for a lense (or maybe 2) that meets the 8x optical zoom of my Z20.
The zoom of the Z20 is '26-290mm 1:3,2-3,4 (Equiv. 135)'
The Dynax 5D has a 1.5x focal length conversion built in.
Does this mean that, for the same zoomcapacity, I'll have to buy a 18-200mm lens? And what's the difference between a 18-200mm lens, or a 18-70mm and 70-200mm lens?

Yes, because of the smaller sensor (1.5x smaller than 35mm film) you need to multiply the focal lenght with 1.5 to understand what field of view you get. So, a 18-200 lens will give the field of view of a 27-300 lens on a 35mm slr.

A lens with a big zoom range is more difficult to design than a lens with a smaller zoom range, so usually the lenses with big zoom ranges are compromises. This makes the lenses with smaller zoom ranges often better optically, resulting in better image quality.

What lenses you should get is totally up to you. If you can find a 2nd hand 70-210 f4 minolta lens, you should get it.... those are great optically.
What new lenses you can consider depends of course on your budget, the 18-200 from KM will of course be a very convenient walk around lens.

In addition to the very wide range of the 18-200 lenses, from several sources, is also the Sigma 18-125 (27mm-187.5mm equiv.) which is about a 7X zoom. A good walk-around lens for the price (~$270).

Thanks for your comments! I'm still doubting about the purchase... it's a lot of money, especially lenses can be very expensive
As I said in the startpost, I'm still happy with my Z20, but the pictures can be very noisy, even at ISO50 or ISO100... So I also looked at a camera between the Z20 and a DSLR, for example the DiMAGE Z6 from KM, but in a lot of reviews, this camera drops some points on noisereduction :(
Maybe the Pro815 from Samsung is an option, 15x optical zoom (I often use a tripod), it's price is similar to a 'budget' DSLR with lenses.
Difficult choice!
