I'm finding it impossible to find a USB lead for my D-545 camera.
I bought it secondhand for my sister, for her it's the PERFECT camera because It's so user-friendly. I reckon I might even get her using the exposure compensation adjustment (I'll call it the 'brightness' button).
It would be even easier for her to use if I had the mini-usb cable, as I think this model is plug-n-play, just like a card reader (in Win2K/XP anyway). This would eliminate the need to open-up the camera and extract the card which just allows more opportunity for mis-haps. For a nervous novice, anyway.
But I can't find a generic (CHEAP!) connector for this ANYWHERE!
I have Fuji, Mustek, Canon and (ironically) Olympus cameras and they all use what I thought was the bog-standard 5-pin mini (the one with a flange).
At least, after all my searching, I now know that there are 2 main standard types of mini-usb; 4-pin (rectangular) and 5-pin (looks like one side has been 'squashed' leaving a flared edge -you know what I mean).
But instead, this camera uses something which seems to be a bit unique -or 'AWKWARD' as I would call it.
I did also see some 'D' shaped connectors. Strewth - it's like buying Hoover bags!
Standard camera leads cost less than a fiver. Card readers ditto. My D-545 cost £45- (ex-display) inc 128Mb XD, so there's no way in this solar system that I'm going to spend a pony on a poxy bit of wire just because it has the right hole at one end.
Can anyone give me any guidance? It would be much appreciated.
Regards, Paul (fiveportions).
