Can someone tell me the specs for external power to the Canon A520? I have a Radio Shack Digital Camera Power Supply which is 2.0 amps and can be set for voltages from 3 to 7.5. I know the Olympus camera that I had previosly used 6.5volts, but I can't find any mention of the voltage of the external power source for the Canon a520. Thanks. Len

3 volts should work for you. The camera takes 2 AA batteries, which is about 3 volts if you use alkaline, and about 2.5 volts if you use NiMH batteries. I have a power source for a Sony Walkman that puts out 3 volts, and it works fine wiith my A520. You might want to check the accuracy of the voltage output, however. I have many different power supplies, and most of them put out more voltage than their specs say they should. I have one that is supposed to be 6 volts, ant it puts out about 8.5. Another one puts out 11, when it should be 9 volts. Most solid state applications are fairly voltage tolerant, but something as sophisticated as a digital camera might be a little more sensitive. Fortunately, my Sony transformer reads 3.2 volts, so it is safe for my A520. Make sure you have the polarity set right on your power supply. The center terminal should be positive, and the outer sleeve is the ground. Good luck.
