I have just purchased a Canon 70-300 IS USM lens for my Digital rebel XT. I am planning on using this for an upcoming trip to Antarctica, so I'll be shooting a LOT of water and ice shots. I think I should get a polarizing filter, but not sure which to get. Canon suggests their circular polarizing filter, but it's pricey at $79. Does anyone know if I need a circular filter and have any suggestions about good filters for less than the Canon?
