well, my wedding photogs (our new friends) keep hinting that i should learn the camera so i can work for them, they just did a hockey tourny and will do so again next yr
im looking for a 70-200 (sigam likly) f/2.8 ONLY if i can find for a real good deal
he says to ge tthe SB-800 and a good manfretto tripod first, as i haev a decent zoom lens. he was really big on getting the flash
whats everybodys thoughts on this

I agree with your freind. The SB800 should be next. Followed closely by a good tripod. I use a monopod more than a tripod, but a good stable platform is definately important. Especially once you get the 70-200 f2.8. They have that tripod/monopod mount on the lens for a reason.;)
P.S. Since the D70s has Commander mode built-in, the SB600 might be a better choice, and the difference could help pay for a decent tripod.
If you want to do wedding photography then a flash followed by a tripod are important. If you plan to do outdoor stuff then the 80-200 is best.

hey george, i wwas first looking at the SB 600, but he said the more powerful one would be best??
he uses a canon 20d, and a 580EX i believe and his wife the 540EX, says his can control hers...
with the D70s, does this matter or is that what the commander mode would do, allow the sb 600 not to be just a slave??
how much more powerfull are we talking too??
almost $200 cndn diff between the two....id likely go ebay b4 i dropped $400 on a flash
