I just got a DSC-V3 and it does a wonderful job, and I want to get a telephoto lens for it, anybody have a suggestion of which one?

I too recently got a DSC-V3 (last August) and have been toying around with the idea of getting a telephoto. I've been leaning towards the VCL-DEH17VA simply because it's the one SONY suggests/advertizes for this camera. Just haven't pulled the trigger yet and made the purchase.
I don't want to sink too much into it though, as I got the camera for free and it's re-kindled my romance with photography (I had the bug BAD from 1978 thru about 1988) and I'm thinking of a nice DSLR soon.
What other telephoto lenses that fit this camera have you seen available?

I've seen opteka, raynox and tokina and others. I am like you unsure of these other brands how they would perform on the V3, but yet the sony are the highest price I've found. I was wondering if anybody had any experience with any of these. Those other brands are all over ebay.

I've seen opteka, raynox and tokina and others.
They have the same optical specs as the SONY? (primarily, that being 1.7x)

i've used the tonika one (4x) very briefly in a camera store with my V3 and could recommend that one, though you'll only get the benefit of it at full zoom.
I owned the sony wide-angle lens (i dropped it in the ocean and lost it ) and can recommend that one highly, it did a great job while i had it.
I also own the sony macro lens, it does a pretty good job also, i've taken some good snaps with it so far.
filters ai can recommend to you are the circular polariser, ND x4 and Star Eight by Hoya.
happy snapping
