Indoor shots, auto mode, flash up, AF assist light on, subjects about 10' away (Foosballs table game).

This camera just about went up agaist the wall ! it takes 10-20 seconds and 3-4 try's to get it to take the picture, and I miss the shot. besides the above mentioned situation, it happens to most indoor shots (over 75%).

OK, I know it is not a point and shoot, But why can I not "take a picture" with it ? Can I lock the focus, the manual focus is some what useless, I tried and tried, but it takes longer than the AF, I thought MF was a "Focus ring" you grabbed on the lens.

I just want to capture the shot in the same calender year that I push the shutter.

Any idea's ??

Many, Many thanks,
Nick

Try shooting at the widest angle setting and see if you still have the problem and report back! Also, go into the menu and leave/set the AF on "Continuous" and see if the lag decreases...and turn the "Red-Eye" setting to off. Oh, and use fully charged high-quality rechargable batteries. :)

Hi
I came up with the same prob the other day - too much light for AF beam to activate and very close subject(16") - set it to macro mode and "voila" -locked straight away. Try it next time you have the problem.
Cheers Dom
