I have been researching digital cameras and have virtually lost my mind. I have a 4 year old Olympus I am upgrading because it takes fuzzy pictures with poor color, exposure, and red-eye, and has poor zoom. I use it mostly for taking pictures of my young kids, so both clarity and lack of red-eye are important. I know software programs can remove red-eye, but they often seem to just make big black eyes. I don't expect to make pictures bigger than 5x7, but I do a lot of cropping. I originally didn't want to spend >$200, and had it narrowed down to the Canon A520 and Kodak Z700. However, I am now considering going a little higher in price since I may have to in order to meet my needs, and have researched the Canon SD400, Canon A610, Sony P200, and Kodak Z740.
I am not really into photography (sorry to probably most of the members of this web site) other than pictures of kids, family events, etc. Any recommendations?

The Sony P200 will give you clear good photos, with no red -eye problem.
