Budget

I don't really care about budget, so i'm not going to go for the FujiFilm just because it's cheaper, but I can't afford anything like a Canon EOS 20D, and seeing as this is my first camera I want to start of at the bottom. That's why I narrowed it down to these two cameras.

Size

Size doesn't really matter to me at all.

Features

I don't really care about megapixels as long as it's above 4 or 5, and I would prefer a larger optical zoom but don't care about digital zoom as I won't be using it. Image quality is very important to me, probably 9 or 10 out of 10. I would prefer to have more manual controls.

General Usage

I will generally use the camera for macro shots and landscape shots, not so much portraits. I might make reasonably large prints but only if the shot is exceptionally good. I will probably take mostly daylight photos, but also quite a few low light photos. I might take some action photos of wildlife and such, but not of sports.

Miscellaneous

I think FujiFilm and Canon are both very good brands and so aren't really leaning towards one just because of the brand name. I wouldn't really be after any special features, although wide angle and image stabilization might be nice.

If anyone could recommend to me which camera to buy I would very much appreciate it.

From everything you have written - Canon S2 with a wide angle adapter. It is a great camera.

Thanks for the recommendation, and I have looked at the review and it is a great camera, but I just think it's just a bit too advanced for my first camera. I don't want to be getting an advanced camera when I end up not using that much, so i'm going to go with either the Ixus 700 or the Fuji F10. But thanks a lot anyways, much appreciated. Maybe the S2 for my second camera :)

The Canon S-2 IS is not too complicated at all, if I might say so. It will also be a lot more camera than the Fuji F-10. it is the better choice.

I have had a F-10 for about 15 months now and I think it is great. However, it is best used in the Manual Mode, NOT the Auto Mode.

Hm. I have to say that the Canon S2 does look very tempting...and seeing as two of you have recommended it, it does seem like a good choice. And the image quality looks amazing, I have to say. I'll probably try and get that then. Thanks for your input, I appreciate it a lot
