Im lookin to purchase a slave flash for the Canon S2 IS.

Well, im actually not sure how a slave flash works.. So since the S2 dont have that thing called a hot shoe, it doesnt hook up that way.

I think I read somewhere that a slave flash fires when it detects the cameras on board flash firing also? is this correct? So that means that a slave flash is not in anyway connectd to the camera??

I was looking at the Canon HF DC1 (since this is what the review on dcresource listed) slave flash for powershot cameras on the web, and it looks like it comes with something at the bottom to attach the camera??

are there any other (better, or cheaper) slave flashes that you would recommend instead of the Canon one?

I would like to take some lowlight group photos and some low light architecture photos (ie, inside of church etc.. )

thanks.

thanks. There was a recent thread on this...a quick forum search will save you time next time! Here is the link to a post that has the links to all other slave flash discussions. But the best of the lot, and the most expensive, seem to be the units from Digislave. The HF-DC1 is the least powerful, most inflexible and the worst value for the dollar. http://www.dcresource.com/forums/showthread.php?t=15271
