Just checked out the FX9 in a Circuit City. I didn't have time to test its image quality, but it is (just) pocketable and very non-geeky looking. CC did not have either Fuji Z1 or F10/11; I'm still trying to find those.
I have a Panny camcorder, the 852 with OIS (image stabilizer). It does quite a bit to take hand shake out of the movie. I can't see in the spec whether the FX9 can use it OIS in movie mode; has anyone tried it? The salesman said that in his experience he had about 40% blurred photos with small cameras due to shake and now uses a larger cam.
Also, the FX9 reviews on this site and others show extra noise if one looks very closely. Would PC based noise reduction software fix that or would it introduce other problems? Seems like it would be a great camera for 6x8 prints.

Please do yourself a favor, and get an FX8 instead of an FX9. The FX8 has very good image quality, but the FX9 is... lousy. Not sure why the difference is THAT big, the only difference between the cameras is the 5mp vs 6mp sensor.

If you do not believe me, look at the sample photos of the FX7 (FX8 is an updated FX7) and the FX9 from the reviews of Jeff Keller. The FX8 really is the better camera by a big margin.
