Hello folks,

I want to buy a card reader/writer for our SD550 which uses the SD memory card. Main purpose is to write photos "into" the SD card to allow slideshow playback from the SD550.

The thing is that the photos need to be in the proper format which the SD550 will accept for its playback. This is important since I am unable to upload higher resolution jpg images into our Canon S10 camera for playback as the camera says the jpg images are not in a Canon compatible format.

Any recommendations for:
1. A fast USB2 card reader/writer that takes SD cards?
2. Software that will format jpg photos that are Canon camera compatible?

Thanks.

Any cardreader will work, it's not the format of the files that is the problem. You'll need to understand how the SD550 lays out the file and directory structure and mimic that. The cardreader just copies bits.

Thanks for your response Dave,

What you alluded to is why I asked my question in two separate parts. One is a recommendation for a good card reader/writer without reference to Canon compatibility. The second is a software that can convert graphic files to a Canon compatible format without reference to a card reader/writer.

Thanks again for clarifying as I'm sure others might have been thinking the same thing that you were due to my condensed subject wording,

Ah, I see. There's another active thread with recommendations for card readers here (http://www.dcresource.com/forums/showthread.php?t=15930). Frankly, they all seem to work fairly well, it's pretty simple technology.

I don't know of software that does what you want, but it may be out there.

I saw that thread but they only discuss reading memory cards to the computer. I'm interested in the writing aspect of the reader/writers.

Thanks much for your responses,
