OK, Guys, I am sorry. I thought I just about had the decision to purchase the DMC-FZ30 Panasonic and I went into another site and was reading some stuff on the Sony DSC-H1 Digital camera. Now I have got myself kind of confused. They both seem to be good cameras for the money. I would like it if anyone out there would give me their thoughts on why I should perhaps choose one over the over. I simply want the best camera for that price range which will take the better, sharper pictures probably no larger than 4x6, sometimes 8x10. I know I may have to use the software on the larger prints. but how about the overall picture on the quality and use of camera.

Any help, I would apprecicate.

Thank you, JohnT One more thing, There is a picture of alaska over in the Sony forum. It;s at H1Photos, under Jason 25. Please take a look at this.

Thanks again.

Every review I have seen compares it favorably to the FZ5 or S2 but the FZ30 is a better camera than those 3.

Dpreview said this about the H1

Slight overall softness when viewed at 100%
Some focus hunting at long end of the zoom (especially in movie mode)
Image stabilization doesn't seem quite as effective as competition
Small (though bright and clear) viewfinder
High default contrast and sharpening
Mild chromatic aberration and purple fringing
Movies can look a little over-compressed
Cannot zoom in movie mode
Some problems with blown highlights in bright, contrasty scenes
No RAW or TIFF mode
Could do with a higher top shutter speed
Limited burst mode

And you will be suprised how large a photo you can print with no software from the FZ30...12 X 16 inches is no problem.

The FZ30 is a great camera.
