I am not sure if I have a defective part or if this is normal. When I rest the plastic insert on the camera dock it does not lock in - it is very unstable. I can sit the camera on it, but with the camera not on it, the slightest touch makes the insert fall off. Is this normal?

Hi - I just purchased a V550 at Christmas time and have no problems with the dock. There were two plastic inserts in the box - one is for the dock, the other is for use with a printer. If you are using the correct one, it actually fits tightly and clicks into place with the tab on the back. Sounds like you either are using the wrong plastic insert or there is a problem with your dock.
Good Luck!

I called Kodak support and explained my problem with the dock. I bought the camera last summer and was concerned that they would not do anything because I had not called right away. Anywaym the guy sent me a new insert which came in about a week. While the original insert came with the v550, the 2 are totally different. The original was longer and flatter and the cutout just fit around the connector. The replacement has a plastic oval on the bottom that hugs around the whole stand making it much more stable, much more snug.
I attached a picture of the 2 inserts, original is one on top.

Okay, I am a complete fool. I just found the correct insert in the box. Now I have 2. I don't get what the flat one is for.
