Thanks for the reply Mr. Jason. So do you think that this is a common phenomeneon, nothing to be worried about or is it something that I need to take care of?

Sometimes a violet or red line seems to appear along the edges of images on pictures taken using Sony DSC H1. This happens to photos taken both indoors and outdoors, with and without the usage of flash.
I'm an amateur.
Is this due to the light effect or could it be due to any defects in the camera?
Please help since Ive bought this very recently and have paid around US$500 and am a bit worried.

That sounds like purple fringing, which happens on most digital cameras to some degree or another. It happens in high-contrast parts of the image.

It happens with many digital cameras. With that said, I've had it in only 1 of my H1 pictures, and I got rid of it in 5 minutes with Photoshop Elements 3 (Mac). It's not a defect, just a common "flaw".
